Velvet Patchwork Draught Excluder

Finished Velvet Patchwork Draught Excluder

This velvet patchwork draught excluder was made as a gift for a neighbour. The weather here continues to get colder and the draughts in these old Irish houses can feel vicious.

Shortly before leaving the UK I managed to get my hands on some beautiful heavy-duty velvet remnants from a Scottish Kilt seller on Etsy. I just knew they’d come in handy… and they did.

This was a very straight forward project. I knew I had 11 colours of fabric in my stash to work with. To start I measured a standard door and calculated how wide each of my strips of fabric would need to be. Next I cut out my fabric rectangles and machine sewed them together. Finally I folded the piece into one long sausage, sewed along the length and one of the sides, stuffed it and then seamed it shut.
