While at the Hobbycraft show in Birmingham at the NEC recently I picked up a copy of Sew Magazine with a Jolly Santa sewing kit. It’s cute but I thought it could benefit from some further brightening up….with LEDs
This is one of the most basic things a person can do with sewable electronics. If you want to sew LEDs to something very clear instructions can be found here.
The components were easy to come by in the UK. All I needed was a lilypad battery holder (and a battery to go into it)
Some sewable LEDs (they come in different colours but I got the white ones)
And a bit of conductive thread to connect it all together. The little black bag has a double purpose. It disguises the battery holder and it can store the battery when it’s not in the battery holder. Just because it’s tech doesn’t mean it has to be ugly. Of course, none of this would work without the Sew Magazine Jolly Santa to attach everything onto.
And that it. Less than one hours work, even with me sewing one of the LEDs in backwards first time around. Gives me a warm glow…
