Quick and Easy Slouchy Hat – Take 2

It’s the sequel to the Quick and Easy Slouchy Hat (click here to see my previous version in autumnal tones). I’ve recently knitted up my favourite slouchy hat pattern, AGAIN, this time in jewel-toned yarn.

You can make your own version of this hat following the free Quick and Easy Slouchy Hats knitting pattern by Jessica Gutoski. It’s a very straightforward knit, with three variations, worked from the bottom rib up. Given the recommendation for using supper chunky yarn, you can probably get this knitted up in a few short hours or less if you’re a fast knitter.

I’m not hugely fond of yarn with a high wool content however this particular yarn is soooo soft. As previously, I knitted it up using the gloriously squishy Malabrigo Yarn Rasta. For a change, this time I used colourway 005 Aniversario. Malabrigo’s Rasta yarn is a single ply, super chunky, slightly felted with a super soft hand. At 82 meters per ball, there is just enough for one hat with no leftover yarn.

This yarn has the additional benefit of being quite dense, which means its good at keeping you warm. That said because I like to keep my ears extra toasty in the cold weather I took the additional step of sewing in a layer of fleece fabric around the inside rib ending.
