A few years ago I modified some existing patterns into a Blythe raglan dress pattern. I used it a batch of times and then forgot about it. It’s been languishing in a pile of human sized patterns until rescued in a recent clear out.
This dress is unlined and features raglan sleeves and a cowl neckline. As with previous Blythe patterns it should fit both the standard factory body, a licca body and/or a flection pure neemo XS. Photographs below are shown on a flection pure neemo XS.
The pattern is available for download here: Blythe raglan dress sewing pattern. This pdf was scanned as an A4 sheet. If you want to print it to scale you must print to A4 paper and set the printer margins to 0. Seam allowance of 4mm is included on the pattern pieces. If printed correctly to scale the collar pattern piece should measure 15cm at its widest point.
Instructions
- Print the pattern sheet to A4 paper and cut out the pattern pieces.
- Pin the paper pattern to the fabric and cut out the fabric pieces. You will need to cut 1 front piece, 1 collar piece, 2 back pieces (on folded fabric so they are mirror opposites) and 2 sleeve pieces.
- Match sleeves to front piece, right sides together and sew in place.
- Match back pieces to sleeves, right sides together and sew in place.
- Sew a long running stitch along neck of sewn dress pieces and gather until neck line measures just 15cm.
- Align collar with dress neck, right sides facing and sew in place. Clip seam along sewn curved edge.
- Hem collar along top edge with zig-zag stitch. Fold hemmed edge down (wrong side facing) and pin in place. Sew along collar seam from right side.
- Press with iron.
- Hem both sleeves.
- Hem dress back seems.
- Sew underarms and sides together. Clip at corners.
- Hem skirt bottom.
- Turn right side out and add snaps.
- Hay presto – your done!
Thank you! A free pattern is always appreciated.
